Falsled Kro has a long and varied
history. It was a smuglers’ inn
back in the 16th centrury, and gained a royal charter 250 years
later when the King gave Morten Jensen authorisation to run an
inn, brew beer and distil spirits.
Changes these days are only made to
ensure that the old traditions
are maintained and that the inn is still worth a detour.
Funen is known as the Garden of Denmark,
in particular
South Funen.
>From spring until midsummer's eve
asparagus is cut in the
early morning, and the strawberry fields are laden with blossom
and fruit.
Then the raspberries take over, followed
by plums and many
varieties of apples and pears. Then the hazelnuts and walnuts
appear and from the region around Svanninge Hills, Jean-Louis
is always delighted to welcome mushroom gatherers with their
baskets full of wild mushrooms including cèpes, horn of plenty,
various types of chanterelle (some with an apricot aroma), and
field mushrooms (tasting of aniseed).
Morels are available as early as the
month of April.
As Hans Christian Andersen said, "It
was glorious out in the
country".

Sognegården was built in 1996 as a 25 years’ celebration to
Falsled Kro.
Sognegården has two wings, it was
constructed entirely from 200
years old timbers recovered from a parsonage in the village of
Brylle on Mid Funen.

Ydes Hotel was built in 1904, as one of
Odense's first building
which rose above two stories.
During the war it was named Ydes after
the lady who managed it
from the war into the late sixties. Under her management, the
main attraction of the hotel was its bar. In serving cold beer
and hot food, it provided the hotel with its main income.
Sitting in a corner of the bar, Mrs. Ydes ran the hotel until
she was 84 years of age. The bar was well-known for its warm
and cheerful atmosphere. This atmosphere resulted in Ydes Hotel
came to be the preferred place, for the locals as well as several
notable celebrities of the time.
Today the bar is a private one, only open
to the guests.
Upon Mrs. Ydes' retirement, the hotel was
acquired by Mr.
Steen Brenholst.
In 1988 Ydes Hotel was bought by its
current owner, Mr.
Lasse Vallestrand.
Every room in Ydes Hotel, has its own
bath and toilet facilities.
