Domain name as marketing tool

A lot of people underestimate the value of a good domain name. Keep in mind that if your domain name is easy to remember it will help you get more visitors back. Good examples are free.com, auto.com but these kind of simply gone since the early days of internet so you will have to be more creative.

Try combinations of keywords or use your full company name as domain name. If you have a free website with your access provider you probably have a long url like www.nameprovider.com/users/abracadabra
If this is the case there are socalled redirect (rename) service which will give you a shorter url, which is easier to remember and which direct traffic to your real address. Examples are names like www.read.at/yourname or www.fly.to/yourname

In the early days a .com domain would cost you $70 for 2 years registration but now the market is open and more providers can offer this for lower prices. So shop around to get the best deal. Reserve your name in time because it will be harder and harder to find available domain names in the future.
