country located in Central Asia. It has a history and culture that goes back over 5000
years. Throughout its long, splendid, and sometimes chaotic history, this area of the
world has been known by various names. In ancient times, its inhabitants called the land
Aryana. In the medieval era, it was called Khorasan, and in modern times, its people have
decided to call it Afghanistan. The exact population of Afghanistan is unknown, however,
it is estimated to be somewhere around 21-26 million.

nation-building process. The people of Afghanistan are weary of war and hunger for peace.
This process of making the constitution will actively involve the people of Afghanistan
for the first time in the creation of their shared roadmap towards peace -- their future
constitution. The Islamic Transitional State of Afghanistan (ITSA) is committed to a
constitution making exercise that will engage all segments of Afghan society, strengthen a
sense of national identity, and aim for a consensual document acceptable to all Afghans.

Ariana
Ariana Afghan Airlines was established in January 1955. An American commercial pilot
relocated several war-surplus Dakota Aircraft to Afghanistan which he had been operating
as a private air service in India after the end of World War ll. Prior to that there
had been no air service for passengers within Afghanistan, even though the Royal Afghan
Air Force had been in existence for some years. The utility of air travel was soon
recognized by the Afghan Government, and the airlines was incorporated more formally as
"Ariana Afghan Airlines".
