writer, was captured by the beauty
of the valley. At the turn of the century he wrote:

The Hotel Bellary was built in 1896 by a
society of English
missionaries, who held domain in an Indian City named Bellary.
At the turn of the 19th century, it was
visited mainly by members of
the European nobility, since it was, at that time, one of the finest
hotes on the spot.
After changing hands frequently, the
hotel was finally bought by the
Schild-Nakajima family, who knows owns it in the fourth generation.
At the foot of a forest, surrounded by
peaceful, green meadows, the
Hotel Bellary is situated at ten minutes walking distance from the
train station.
The vast garden is a source of pleasure
for the young and old. And the
view from the balconies and the huge terrace is simply breath-taking.
The Hotel Bellary is the perfect
starting- point for easy walks as well
as for interesting hikes into the surrounding mountains.
During the winter season, a ski-bus stop
is located right below the
hotel, which makes it very convenient for you to reach the trains and
skilifts.
If you visit the Museum of Transportation
in Lucerne, you will find a
tiny, yellow boat bearing the legend "Seiko da Grindelwald".
In this self-built nutshell, powered by
nothing but a 2.5 hp outboard
engine, Seiko Nakajima crossed the Atlantic Ocean in 1994.

The cosy lounge with TV-corner offers a grand piano and various other
musical instruments for our guests to use.
