Pinhole glasses - like sunglasses with a
grid of tiny holes - are
a cheap and easy way to help correct poor vision permanently when
worn for only 15 minutes a day and they only cost £10 – the cheapest
price on the web.
They also help reduce heart-rate,
headaches and tension.
When you look at a blurred object your
brain moves the focus of
the eye in and out until it gets an increase in contrast. If no
increase is achieved your brain leaves the object unfocused.
Pinholes improve the sharpness of the
image, allowing your brain to
find the point of focus. During this process the focusing muscles of
the eye are getting used more and this regular exercise helps your
eyes’ focusing system.
Exercise your eyes while you read or
watch TV.
Long-sighted people can do this exercise
while focusing close up –
doing things like reading. Short-sighted people get the benefit
from focusing at a distance, eg. Watching TV 15 minutes a day.
The major cause of the long-sightedness
that comes with advancing
years is a weakening of the focusing muscles that control the eye’s
lens. Looking through the tiny holes forces the eye muscles to

Peter Grunwald is a world-renowned expert
on eyesight, regularly
lecturing in 12 different countries, ‘very few people are born
with bad eyesight, most bad eyesight is acquired’ he says.
‘Bad eyesight is known to be caused
by too much strain in the
eye muscles. Conventional glasses only serve to increase the
problem.
When your eyes are starting to have a
problem focusing, using
corrective lenses simply compensates for the error – they don’t
train or exercise the eye. That is why people who wear glasses
frequently have to wear stronger and stronger glasses as time
goes by.
‘Pinhole glasses need to be worn for
only short periods each day –
typically 15-20 minutes daily - while you continue to wear your
normal glasses or contact lenses the rest of the time. Pinholes
have also been connected to reduced heart rates when worn by VDU
users.
‘Tests indicate that, because the
eye has to focus on a fixed point
(your computer screen), after a few minutes, heart rate (one of the
best indications of stress) can increase by around 5 per cent. This
is enough to cause tension in the shoulders and lead to headaches.
‘Because pinholes are smaller than
the eye’s normal pupil size they
relax the eye without losing the clarity of the image. The reduced
tension in the eye is felt immediately and heart rate returns to
normal within minutes,’ says Grunwald.

Our glasses can help with most focusing
problems, even if you already
use spectacles or lenses.
They have been developed from the
traditional pinhole principal used
in some eye tests. Our scientific research has enabled us to maximise
their vision improvement effect.
Julia Duthie, a professional midwife with
an interest in complimentary
medicine, heard about pinhole glasses at an Applied Kinesiology
conference in London. She produced a few pairs for interested
therapists and started to hear of amazing results. She founded
Trayner Pinhole Glasses in 1990 to promote the benefits of using
pinhole glasses for vision improvement.
Peter Duthie became involved with the
manufacturing side of the
business and started to help out at exhibitions. Fascinated by the
improvements users reported in their vision, he gave up his work as
an electronic design consultant so he could join Trayner and apply
his engineering skills to unravelling the mysteries of vision
improvement. As a result he has succeeded in bringing pinhole
glasses in from the fringe to a growing acceptance by opticians,
doctors and ophthalmologists.
Trayner pinhole glasses consist of
conventional spectacle frames
with the lenses replaced by opaque screens containing lots of small
holes. Looking through the pinholes immediately makes blurred vision
sharper. This can help people learn to focus where they had previously
needed glasses.
